Preface
Tanzania is the country that has every East-Africa moment in one passport. The Serengeti for the migration, Ngorongoro for the crater morning, Kilimanjaro for the climb, Zanzibar for the salt-and-spice end. Three days in the Serengeti, one in Ngorongoro, three in Zanzibar. And Kilimanjaro on its own week. Best between June and October for the dry-season game-viewing, and January to February for the calving.

Tibro has been routing Tanzania since 2017. Eight years of Serengeti private-concession game-drives, Ngorongoro crater mornings, and the safari-into-Zanzibar arcs that travellers come back wanting to do every year.
We work with an Arusha-based partner desk run by Hamisi (originally a Ngorongoro Conservation Authority ranger) and a Zanzibar Stone Town coordinator who has walked our travellers through the doors-and-spice routes since 2018.
Lodges on the northern circuit are a private-concession problem. Public-park camps are crowded, private concessions cost more but you do not share the kill. We work with three concession operators year-round and pick by traveller week.
Three routes is what we currently maintain. The safari-and-Zanzibar nine-night is the most-requested; we route the beach AFTER the bush because arriving on the island with a Serengeti tan is the right end to the trip.

Serengeti & Zanzibar, nine nights, September 2024
Four Serengeti nights at a private concession lodge, two Ngorongoro, three Zanzibar. Hamisi's ranger team had us in the right place every morning. The first kill of the season on day two, a leopard with a kill in the tree on day four. The Zanzibar three days were the right way to land back into the world: salt water, Stone Town doors, a sunset dhow.

Northern circuit, seven nights, February 2024
Calving season in the southern Serengeti. The private concession lodge the studio booked had us alone at a kill site for forty minutes on day three; nobody else on the radio. Hamisi's brief on the migration, given on the cars on the first morning, framed the rest of the week.

Seven days up, one rest day, summit at five forty AM. The studio used a private guide team with a 2:1 client-to-guide ratio that we did not realise was rare until other groups walked by us. Hamisi's pre-trip altitude brief and the slow-day-three philosophy is what got us to Uhuru.
