Preface
Spain does not run on the same clock as the rest of Europe. Lunch is at two, dinner is at ten, the streets are full at midnight, and the museums close exactly when you wanted to go to them. Surrender the clock to Spanish time and the country becomes everything it claims to be. Refuse, and you will spend two weeks tired and unfed.

Tibro has been routing Spain since 2014. Eleven years of Andalusian patios, AVE train transfers, ten o'clock dinners, and the occasional festival-week wedge into the diary.
We work with a Madrid-based partner studio run by Carmen (originally a Renfe operations coordinator) and a Seville-based DMC who covers all of Andalusia. Carmen reserves AVE seats on the Madrid-Seville and Madrid-Barcelona lines six months ahead because they sell out otherwise.
Hotels in Spain are a parador problem. The state-run paradores are reliable but corporate, the family-run boutique paradores are extraordinary but variable. We know which is which in each city, including which Seville convent-hotel has the courtyard that catches the orange-blossom light.
Eleven routes is what we currently maintain. The Spain-Portugal chain is the one growing fastest; the Spain-Morocco loop is the one we are most picky about because the ferry days require timing.

The Alhambra ticket the studio had reserved six months ahead was the right ticket. First-entry slot, before the tour groups. The flamenco evening in Triana was a tablao that the Seville partner had recommended; not the famous one, the better one. Carmen also rebooked our return flight when a strike threatened, before we even knew. The standard for European travel for us has been reset.

Barcelona & Valencia, seven nights, August 2024
La Tomatina week. Booked late, and Carmen got us into a Valencia hotel that the studio had been holding on a six-month tentative. Barcelona was three nights at a Born-quarter hotel that the studio's runner walked us to from the AVE station. The Sagrada Família private hour the studio arranged was the trip's quiet centre.

Spain & Portugal Grand Tour, fourteen nights, September 2024
Madrid, Seville, Lisbon, Sintra, Porto. Five cities; the studio's pace was right. Three nights minimum in each, and only one transfer day longer than three hours. The Porto wine-cellar evening Carmen arranged was the meal of the trip. We came home exhausted in the right way.
