    Preface

South Africa is two countries you can do in one trip. The cape, and the bushveld. Cape Town sits where the cold Atlantic meets the warm Indian, and the city has the only Cableway in the world that climbs a flat-topped mountain in seven minutes. Three days for the cape, two for the Winelands, three for Kruger, and the Garden Route in between when you have ten nights. Best between September and May. The bushveld is open year-round but the cape closes in July's rain.

    10Years of routing South Africa
    4Routes, none repeated
10 / 24Hours we tend to reply within

Tibro has been routing South Africa since 2015. Ten years of cape trips, Winelands afternoons, Kruger morning drives, and the Garden Route ten-night arcs that travellers come back wanting to do the other way around.

We work with a Cape-Town-based partner desk run by Pieter (originally a V&A concierge with a route book of every Stellenbosch estate by harvest week) and a Kruger ranger team on retainer in a private concession that borders the main park.

Hotels in Cape Town are a side-of-the-mountain problem. The V&A waterfront for the first time, the Camps Bay Atlantic for the second, the Constantia winelands for the third. We hold rooms at five properties year-round and pick by traveller.

Four routes is what we currently maintain. The cape-and-safari ten-night is the most-requested; we route the safari leg AFTER the cape because arriving in the bushveld with a Cape Town tan reads as deliberate to the rangers.

    Warmly,
The Tibro studio , Mumbai, Cape Town (partner), Sabi Sands (concession)

Cape Town & Winelands, six nights, February 2024

Three Cape Town nights, three Stellenbosch. Pieter walked us up the lower slopes of Lion's Head on the second morning before the cableway crowd, then handed us to a wine partner in Stellenbosch who lined up three estates we would never have found on our own. The Camps Bay sunset on day four was the moment the trip turned into a holiday and not a checklist.

Cape & Sabi Sands, nine nights, October 2024

Four cape nights, three at a Sabi Sands concession lodge, two back in Cape Town for the flight. The leopard sighting on the third morning was a private vehicle ten metres off the kill. The ranger had radioed us before the breakfast bell. We never felt rushed, which is the highest compliment for a safari that has a seventy-minute drive window.

Full South Africa, twelve nights, March 2024

Cape, Garden Route self-drive, Kruger to close. The Garden Route four-night stretch was a Tibro suggestion we had been on the fence about, and the morning at Tsitsikamma walking the suspension bridge made the whole detour worth it. Pieter's choice of lodge on the Knysna lagoon was the meal of the trip.

    Tell us how many
    nights, and which side.

Two questions decide a South Africa trip: how many nights, and which side. Cape, bush, or both. Pieter in Cape Town writes back inside the working day with hotels and a private vehicle held on a tentative.
