Norway is the country that asked itself how much vertical it could fit between two horizons, and the answer is, a great deal. Three Norways really. The fjord country around Bergen, the Tromsø aurora-and-coastal-voyage trip, and the Lofoten Islands for the second visit. Pick which Norway, and the rest is a question of which week of the year.

Tibro has been routing Norway since 2015. Ten years of fjord summers, Tromsø aurora winters, and the occasional Lofoten add-on. We treat the country as two halves: the summer fjord half and the winter aurora half. They are different trips.
We work with a Bergen-based partner studio run by Astrid (formerly with the Hurtigruten Coastal Voyage operations) and a Tromsø liaison who covers all of the aurora half. Astrid books Bergen Railway seats six months ahead because they sell out.
Hotels in Norway are an expensive problem. Every property is priced the same way, and the difference between great and good is real. We will tell you which Bergen waterfront hotel actually has the rooms you want.
Nine routes is what we offer. Adding a tenth only happens when we have walked it ourselves. The Lofoten extension is the route we are most opinionated about, so go in late June, not August.

Bergen & the fjords, seven nights, June 2024
Astrid had us at a Bergen waterfront hotel with a top-floor view across to the Bryggen warehouses. The Geiranger morning was the best three hours of the trip. A private fjord boat at six AM, no other vessels, the cliff faces lit from one side only. The Flåm Railway carriage was reserved at exactly the right window seat. Three years of European travel and this was the trip we still talk about.

Tromsø aurora, five nights, February 2025
The aurora came on night two. Tibro's hunter, Magnus, drove us forty-five minutes out of the city to a place he had chosen because of the cloud forecast that afternoon. Three hours of lights. The Coastal Voyage on night four was a quiet ship; the studio had picked the off-peak northbound carriage. Everything was timed before we arrived.

Norway with Finland, nine nights, January 2025
Four Tromsø nights followed by five in Saariselkä. The handover at Kirkenes was the part we were nervous about and it was handled by one driver who has been doing that cross-border run for fifteen years. Aurora both halves, no logistics stress. Tibro thinks about the transitions; nobody else has done that for us.
