Angkor Wat, first light from across the western moat.
Angkor, 5:45 AM

Cambodia is one of those countries with a single non-negotiable chapter. Angkor. And the rest of the trip is what you build around it. Siem Reap is the base; Phnom Penh is the modern capital with the heavier history; the southern coast at Sihanoukville and Koh Rong is where the trip lands soft. Three days for Angkor, two for Phnom Penh, two for the coast. Best between November and March. The dry season, with December the temples' busiest month.

Tibro has been routing Cambodia since 2018. Seven years of Angkor sunrise mornings, Phnom Penh history days, and the Vietnam-Cambodia ten-night arcs that travellers come back wanting to repeat in reverse.
We work with a Siem-Reap-based partner desk run by Sophea (originally an Angkor Conservation Authority epigrapher who has read inscriptions on temples we have only photographed) and a Phnom Penh coordinator for the heavier history days.
Hotels in Siem Reap are an Old-French-Quarter problem. Staying within the old quarter is what protects the early-morning tuk-tuk to Angkor before the sunrise crowd. We hold rooms at three properties year-round.
Three routes is what we currently maintain. The Cambodia-classic seven-night is the most-requested; we route Angkor BEFORE Phnom Penh because arriving at the Killing Fields with the temples already done lets the modern history sit on its own foundation.
Warmly,
The Tibro studio , Mumbai, Siem Reap (partner), Phnom Penh (history liaison)
Five Siem Reap nights, two Phnom Penh. Sophea had us at the western moat of Angkor Wat at five forty-five on day one. The colour came up over the temple and the crowd was still small. Day three at Banteay Srei was the surprise. The pink sandstone carving at the end of an hour-long drive. The S-21 morning in Phnom Penh on day six was the right way to read the modern country.
Three days at the temples, one floating-village afternoon, one apsara dance evening. Sophea's day-three Banteay Srei sequence. Small temples first, big temple at the end. Was the right order. The fact that we did not feel temple-fatigue at the end of five days was the studio's discipline showing.
Hanoi, Halong Bay, flight to Siem Reap, Angkor, Phnom Penh, Saigon. Two countries in twelve nights with the border crossings handled by the studio. Sophea in Siem Reap and her Vietnam counterparts worked off the same brief and the trip felt one-trip.
Two questions decide a Cambodia trip: how many nights, and whether to combine it with Vietnam, Thailand, or stand alone. Sophea in Siem Reap writes back inside the working day with hotels held on a tentative.
