Belgium is a small country that does cities very well. Bruges for the canals; Brussels for the chocolate, the comics, and the EU; Ghent for the late-medieval town that read better than Bruges to nineteenth-century painters; Antwerp for the diamonds and the printers. Two days for Bruges, two for Brussels, one each for Ghent and Antwerp, and the Flanders battlefields on the back of the western loop. Best between April and October. And December for the Bruges Christmas market.

Tibro has been routing Belgium since 2018. Seven years of Bruges canal mornings, Brussels chocolate counters, and the Belgium-and-Netherlands eight-night arcs that travellers come back wanting to extend into the Rhine.
We work with a Brussels-based partner desk run by Sofie (originally a Comics-Strip Museum curator who can place every Tintin frame in the city) and a Bruges canal-walker who has worked the same morning route since 2019.
Hotels in Bruges are an inside-the-canal-ring problem. Staying inside Bruges' medieval centre is what protects the morning walk before the buses. We hold rooms at three properties year-round.
Three routes is what we currently maintain. The Belgium-and-Netherlands eight-night is the most-requested; we route Bruges first because the second-trip-day light in the canals is the trip's loudest moment.

Belgium classic, six nights, September 2024
Two Bruges, two Brussels, two Ghent. Sofie's Bruges canal-walker had us out at six AM on the second morning and the city was almost empty. Three locals walking dogs and a baker carrying a tray. The Grand-Place at the blue hour the next evening was the second postcard moment. The Ghent Trappist tasting closed the trip on the right kind of note.

Belgium & Netherlands, eight nights, April 2024
Bruges for two, Brussels for two, Amsterdam for three, Keukenhof day in tulip season. The Bruges-to-Amsterdam train was a half-day across two countries that felt like a single carriage ride. Sofie's coordinator in Amsterdam picked up from where the Belgium leg ended and the trip felt one-trip.

Bruges, an Ypres day for the battlefields, Brussels, Antwerp. The Menin Gate Last Post ceremony at five PM was a Tibro insistence. The studio told us not to miss it and we did not. The trip turned at that gate and the rest of the week sat under that weight.
