Azerbaijan is the rare country that has done a from-scratch reinvention without throwing away the original. The Old City of Baku still stands as it has for a thousand years, two blocks from the Zaha Hadid building that the Flame Towers light up by night. Three days for the city, two for the mountains, the rest for the Caucasus neighbours. Best between April and early November.

Tibro has been routing Azerbaijan since 2018. Seven years of Baku trips, Shahdag winter weekends, and the Caucasus three-country loops out of Tbilisi and Yerevan.
We work with a Baku-based partner desk run by Aysel (originally an Old-City walking guide) and a separate Caucasus coordinator who handles the Georgia and Armenia handovers at the land borders.
Hotels in Baku are a small-window problem. Most properties are five-star but a thin layer matters: which side faces the Caspian, which side faces the Flame Towers. We pick.
Eight routes is what we currently maintain. The Caucasus three-country loop is growing fastest; we route the order Baku → Tbilisi → Yerevan because the border crossings work that way.

Aysel walked us through the Old City at six in the morning, before the day's heat. She had been born inside those walls and treated us like neighbours she had not seen in a while. The Heydar Aliyev private hour was the studio's idea and the building did not disappoint. We came back having seen Baku at a pace nobody else would have given us.

Baku + Shahdag, six nights, February 2024
Three Baku nights, two Shahdag, one back in Baku for a final dinner. The studio arranged a private snowmobile morning at Shahdag with a ski-school instructor who spoke just enough English for the corrections to matter. Hotel both sides was right-side, Caspian view in Baku, slope view in Shahdag.

Caucasus three-country, nine nights, May 2024
Baku → Tbilisi → Yerevan, in that order. The border crossings the studio had pre-arranged were the part that scared us, and the part Tibro made invisible. One driver per leg, paperwork handled, ninety-minute crossings. Each city felt like the right amount of time. We came home wanting to plan the next Tibro trip.
